Car Maintenance Can Result in Savings
Proper car maintenance is essential to a vehicle's longevity and can be helpful in avoiding accidents. The Car Care Council suggests motorists resolve to take care of their vehicles in the new year.
Among the advised measures is the suggestion that motorists get their brakes, spark plugs and coolant checked at least once a year. About four times a year, the CCC recommends looking at engine oil and filters.
CCC executive director Rich White says motorists will save money by keeping their car working well.
"Regular car care is a resolution that will pay off all year, every year," says White. "It's relatively simple to implement and the results are demonstrated in a better performing vehicle and fewer unexpected repairs and breakdowns that can result from vehicle neglect."
Motorists should also ensure their car tires are properly inflated. A flat tire can increase a driver's likelihood of being involved in an accident. Along with the repairs a collision can cause, operators are also likely to see an increase in their auto insurance premiums as a result.
